What’s your usual timing advice for classic overnight versus express/same-evening tans? I’m getting clients who want to rinse early for an event and then wonder why it looks uneven.

What actually goes wrong if they shower before the solution has fully developed — and how do you explain the difference between standard and rapid without scaring them?

Classic overnight is typically 6–8+ hours before rinse; express/rapid is usually in the 1–3 hour window depending on the liquid. Same-evening only works if you’re using a true rapid formula and they follow the rinse time on the bottle — not a classic left on for two hours.

Showering early stops development mid-way, so you get a lighter, often patchier result that fades faster. I tell clients: rinse too soon and you’re washing colour that hasn’t finished forming.

Give written aftercare with the exact window for that product. If they’ve booked last-minute, switch them to an express line rather than gambling with classic.
