I’m launching a mobile spray tan service around Leeds and torn between a standard HVLP setup and a quieter compressor for flats and shared houses. Do most of you keep both, or settle on one for day-to-day?

Noise complaints and carrying kit up stairs are my two big worries — any practical advice from mobiles who’ve been there?

Most UK mobiles I know settle on one good HVLP and learn its quirks rather than hauling two systems. A quieter compressor is lovely in flats, but weight and setup time add up on a full day of calls.

MaxiMist-style turbine HVLPs are popular because they’re relatively simple and spare-parts friendly here. If noise is critical for a regular venue, a quieter compressor unit can be worth owning later — not day one.

Invest in a decent hose, cup cleaning habit, and a trolley. Clients care more about a calm, tidy setup than which box is under the table.
